Get the proper equipment

Before you move ahead, you need proper equipment such as oil pan and socket wrench. Collect thisequipment beforehand because later you will have a lot of trouble. Also, take extreme care if the engine is hot.

Open the oil filter cap to let the oil drain out

You need to open the car hood as well as oil filter so that the oil can be drained out easily. Before you start draining out the oil, it is really important to have some newspaper of old cloth spread lest you risk staining oil spilling on your driveway.

Remove the drain plug gasket

The next thing is to loosen the pug counter in the clockwise direction with the help ofright size wrench. Remove the drain plug gasket. Check the metal washer. If it is in the good condition, you can use it again.

Remove the filter

This is the trickiestpart of the entire process and requires a lot of efforts. Most of the people take help from mechanics in this part of the oil changing process. While removing the filter, take care because there is oil in this filter which might split.

Replace drain plug

Get the new washer or gasket installed. There is no need to tighten it too much. Only meager threading will help!

Screw new lubricated filter in place

Clean up the entire place where the older one sat. Screw new lubricated filter at the right place then. Take care that you should not over-thread.

Add new oil

Once you are done with these steps, you can add new oil in the quantity that is mentioned in the manual of your car. Using a funnel can help in this process.
